Community Art Projects Tall Ships
John Dyer was appointed as the artist in residence for the Falmouth Tall Ships in 1998 and again in 2008. As part of his residencies he encouraged children from across the UK to get their paints out and paint their vision of the spectacular event. In 1998 he worked with the BBC to promote the exhibition and had over 500 entries submitted.
In 2008 the childrens' art had the spectacular venue of the National Maritime museum with an exhibition and event that attracted over 300 people in just 2 hours. The artist also established an online art gallery for the children and gained support from Cornwall Council, NMMC and Falmouth Art Gallery.
In addition to the childrens' art over £1000 worth of framed prints where donated to Falmouth Tall Ships and two original paintings auctioned to help to fund young people from Falmouth to sail in the event abord the Pelican. The auction raised nearly £900.
