‘Tall Ships’ by Emma Age 8 years

Tall ships’ flags flap flap,
All the people chatting chat chat,
Lovely blue sea splash splash,
Lots of people laughing ha ha ha,
Shining fireworks shine shine,
Horns of the ship honk honk,
I see the waves crash crash,
People sweeping the decks sweep sweep.

‘The Greenwich Procession’ by Ollie Nichols, Age 11Years

This year I am going to one of the best festivals in Britain at this time. I went last year and it was magnificent.

The puppets are illuminated with different coloured lights. They swerve and turn down the streets as if in a mind of their own. I walk along the street, following the carnival of colours weave down the road. I keep walking, watching the ribbons swirl and twirl into the night. The procession turns and now comes back towards the tall ships that line the water’s edge.

I now see the sailors in their neat outfits, high up in the masts of the tall ships. But my eyes are drawn away and unconsciously look at the beauty and splendor of the tall ships. The delicate sails are billowing out in their entirety. The gun ports are proudly displaying their array of guns, the guns themselves polished and clean, winking in the moonlight. The gold decorations beam out at you. The people all around me are in a joyous mood, laughing and dancing. The Cutty Sark looks like it is sailing with the other tall ships again. All the fun, laughter, splendor and beauty are all in one place.

Oh I can’t wait to go.

‘I love the sea’ by Madison, Age 9 Years

I love the sea

I love the sea
filled with a thousand racing ships,
Eager to set sail.

I must go down to the sea,
To see the hungry seagulls,
And their shiny fish.

Fishermen dancing the fish in,
And crazy men singing
Ladies blushing,
And children laughing.

Then at the stroke of midnight: the fireworks glow,
And everybody parties
Before jumping into the sea!

‘Falmouth Tall Ships’ by Archie Killen, Age 12 Years

Brightly coloured, the tall ships slowly
drift into the port of falmouth, adding
to the atmosphere of children laughing,
people cheering, the brass band playing.

As dusk turns to dark the clock strikes 12!
Suddenly a carnival of colour exploding,
into the night sky, transforming and bringing
everything to life. A village celebrating.

The sails of the majestic tall ships
bellow through the light breeze going into the quay.
With lots of people hanging
off the silky big sails. Everyone is cheering!

‘Tall Ships’ by Joby, Age10 Years

It is 7.00pm on the day the tall ships sail into the harbour. The carnival has closed ready for the celebration of the tall ships arriving in Falmouth. As I walk to the harbour I can see the crowd laughing, singing and dancing with great smiles on their faces.
I ran down to the water front, and to my surprise I got to the front row. A sailor invited me on board the ship to sail. It was an amazing opportunity so I said “yes”. I got on the ship and we sailed 5 miles and back.
We realised there was a hole in the lower deck. Luckily I sighted a lifeboat. I found a flare in a box and shot it directly up at the sky. We started blocking the hole with crates. Finally the lifeboat arrived. We were saved.

‘The Tall Ships’ by Freya, Age 11Years

Early yesterday morning I woke up hearing people laughing with excitement as they walked past my house, on their way to the harbour. I knew where they were going to. My mum made me some toast and I got dressed to go down to the Tall Ships Festival at Falmouth. It was exciting to see the ships come in and lots of crowds trying to watch, with their families. The beautiful colours of the fireworks were stunning, everyone was cheering the tall ships on. It was brilliant! There was really good music which was amazing to listen to. Our village was beautiful with the vibrant colours and the lights. I’m one lucky person to live in this lovely town with these festivals going on. There were eye catching stalls and handsome pasties to buy. The tall ships looked very colourful when they came into our harbour. Mum and I had a lovely day watching the tall ships come in making our village proud.

The best day ever By Lucy age 12

The best day ever
“Hey look a tall ship.”

I rushed out from my little cottage, excitably running towards the docks. The small town of Zedonca was particularly busy this time of year as it was nearly New Year’s Eve. There would be fireworks, bunting and lots of merry people all around singing and laughing. When I got to the dock, massive ships surrounded me, with men all singing weird pirate songs. It was very jolly indeed. A man walked past, pushing me onto the dirty floor. He ran over to a tall and pure white ship. On the ship was a man selling something in red and yellow boxes. I then knew what it was when a man shouted,

“Fireworks for five pounds”.

I rushed over to a small boat, with a man in a green jumper and then I realised it was my dad!!! When I walked over to the small boat it smelled of raw fish. I pulled a face and my dad said,

“Hello Sophia.”

He laughed at the sight of my face.

“That’s your tea tonight.”

My dad must have come home early from his fishing trip. My dad had got me a present. It was a beautiful party hat that I could wear tonight at the big New Year’s Eve party.
When I got home, It was about six. My mum shouted,

“It’s time to party.”

There right in front of me was a massive party. All complete with fireworks, bunting, different foods and plenty more. All I could say was best day ever!!
