‘Tall Ship Regatta’ by Neve, Age 9 Years

Tall Ship Regatta

Celebration time in Falmouth,
Excited people all around town,
Listen carefully to the soft music,
Elated people dancing in their clogs,
Bright colours bursting though the town,
Regatta for everyone, come on join in,
A celebration not too forget,
Tonight it’s time to party,
Illuminating the sea side town fireworks fly,
On the pier there are people dancing,
Never forget this celebration.

‘The Regatta’ by Samson, Age 9 Years

The Regatta

The fireworks boom and light up the sky,
You can hear the drunken sailors singing a shanty,
The wooden pier is full of dancing people,
The man playing the accordion beside John Dyer’s shop,
As all the bands stop the people start walking home,
All the cups and cans left on the road and the pavement,
For tomorrow’s rubbish collection.

‘The Great Regatta’ by Katie, age 11

The Great Regatta

Whilst the bell tower struck,
People danced joyfully,
The children could not believe their luck,
As fireworks crashed and burst noisily,
People rushing to see leaving footprints in the muck.

The boats sailed in one by one,
As sailors hurried up the mast,
Eagerly waiting to join in the fun,
The regatta had finally begun at last.

“A Dog at the Regatta” by Megan, age 11years

A Dog at the Regatta

A dog was at the regatta,
He found a bog and got covered in mud,
Although that didn’t matter,
He smelt the sausage rolls at the regatta,
Then he ate them all and became fatter,
The man that sold the sausage rolls got cross,
So he threw a ball of moss,
It hit him on the head,
He ran home to lay on his bed…………
but how those Fireworks boomed, How the crowds cheered,
He got no sleep that night!

‘Tall Ships and Sand Pits’ by James Manning, Age 12 Years

The light blurs out into the way of the tall ships.
The boys playing football and the girls building sand pits.
The seagulls screaming,
The crowd cheering.
Lifeboats launching,
The sun is scorching on this sunny day.
The flags are flying,
The waves go flying,
The fish are biting,
No children crying.

Where are the dogs? Where are the fireworks?
Where are all the rich people driving there mercs?
The beach is packed, the sand castles cracked on this freezing night.

One direction singing, crowds seem to be leaving.
One direction sacked,
oh look, crowds are back!

‘Tall Ships Regatta’ by Tom Canning, Age 12 Years

Tall ships regatta,
fireworks popping, bright and cracking,
bunting, colourful and lively,
blowing in the wind,
people cheering and waving,
stevie the dog has lost his owner,
the owner has lost stevie,
the smacks and the pops of the fireworks,
are scaring poor little stevie,
the tall ships are coming,
with their lights beaming bright,
illuminating the ocean,
they are looking bigger,
and bigger again as they approach,
creating a carnival of colour,
an absolute spectacle.

‘Falmouth Tall Ships’ by Archie Killen, Age 12 Years

Brightly coloured, the tall ships slowly
drift into the port of falmouth, adding
to the atmosphere of children laughing,
people cheering, the brass band playing.

As dusk turns to dark the clock strikes 12!
Suddenly a carnival of colour exploding,
into the night sky, transforming and bringing
everything to life. A village celebrating.

The sails of the majestic tall ships
bellow through the light breeze going into the quay.
With lots of people hanging
off the silky big sails. Everyone is cheering!
