‘The Tall Ships!’ by Jacob Todd, Age 14 Years

The Tall Ships!
I was expecting a lovely walk in town,
When suddenly I heard a booming sound,
I looked up high and what did I see?
Some fireworks shining beautifully,
People were pushing, shoving, surging,
Trying to get a glimpse, of THE TALL SHIPS!
There was one particular ship I saw,
With red sails and a yellow door.
It shone and shimmered.
To me it glimmered,
The bow ploughed through the dark blue,
The boat steered straight and true,
It was time to go home,
Leave the ships and crowd alone.

‘The Sound of the Parade’ by Rowan Wilson, Age 12 Years

As the tall ships come sailing by
‘Hooray! Hooray!’ the people cry
As they surf on the ocean blue
The children shout ‘Wahoo! Wahoo!’

When the fireworks let off a spark
All the dogs jump up and bark
The lifeboats shine their lights to the sky
It makes the little babies cry

As the parade comes to a close
On everyone’s faces the sadness shows
As the crowd begins to clear
Only silence you can hear.
