John Dyer has created a series of Digital Postcards for the Falmouth – Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014. The postcards started as a series of live responses by the artist to sailing down the River Thames in London at Greenwich on a Tall Ship in August 2013 during the press launch for the project. The iPad allowed the artist to lay colour on colour and to create in a fluid way without the complexity of painting on a moving sailing boat. Journalists on the boat happily signed the digital postcards to record the day and over 27000 people had viewed the series by the end of the two hour trip. Following the original series of postcards the artist has produced a number of additional ones celebrating specific events & tall ships signing up to the event. Three of these have been recorded as videos and we are pleased to offer these below. They show how the artist worked and layered up the marks and colour to form his direct response to the subject.<\/p>\n
