‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Keira Johns, Age 10 Years

I’m in the corner of a dark and dingy box with twelve other fireworks squashing me, it was terrifying, I could hardly breathe I wanted to get out but I knew I couldn’t do anything about it!
Suddenly I felt someone shake the box, and then put me down again, I didn’t know what was going to happen to me and all I know is that I am not in Tesco anymore, and I know that for a fact.
As quick lightning the box lid opened (air at last) I felt free for the first time ever, I could feel the moisture of the air around, moving me, I could hear the horns from the ships and I could see the tall ships coming in from a corner of the box.
The next thing I knew I was set up on the grass (the grass was as cold as ice) into the pot, and connected to the others…and then the plug.
Once we were connected to the ground and the other plugs I had to wait another hour until I was set off. I mean how would you feel if you had to be shoved next to twelve other fireworks?
All I could hear is a man shouting 3,2,1 BLAST OFF , so off I shot into the air like a bullet from a gun…
BANG POP WHIZ! I went as I shot up into the air, it feels so amazing, I finally feel happy.
I could see the shimmering sea from up above, and I could see the Tall Ships coming through, I could nearly touch the ships they were so tall. I feel free for the first time in forever, I could see the colours everywhere.
