‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Holly Jarmain, Age 11Years

I woke; I’m in a dusty, cold and battered box. I saw another nervous firework next to me shuddering together to keep warm like a pack of puppies keeping warm from the cold. Anxiously I heard loud, booming footsteps echo through the box I was in. A man with rope opened the box lid quickly and grabbed forcefully the frightened fireworks and walked outside. He put us down on a stands and walked off limping. I heard annoying shouts of people as I saw they were behind a gate, the smell of fried food wrinkled up my nose as I looked at it with my jaw-open.

The gruff, mean looking man came out again but with matches that shone like diamonds plus dynamite that was ready to pounce on me any second now. The man shoved rope around me and I gulped as I saw the light, glowing, fierce spark of the match stick. “Would, I survive?” I said slowly in my head. I felt the match light on the rope fizzes as I shot up into the dull air like a raging rocket! I filled the air with happiness. My friends shot up and whizzed into the air like shooting stars. I saw the massive tall ships and small ships with bright flags waving about. There were sky-diving seagulls, dancing seals, beautiful stars and the colourful town below. Cornish sea pirates playing rhythmic music to a beat. The people clapping, screaming in joy.

Suddenly one of my friends began to fall out of the sky drifting into dust and disappeared. Then all of my friends began to scream and turn into dust as well, as I turned to dust, I smiled, I’ve had a happy life.
