John Dyer Exhibition I Official Limited Edition Print I Art & Storytelling Competition

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Amy Trethewey, Age 10 Years

In a dark, cold box, I was lying alone. I felt scared and lonely. I didn’t know what to do. The box was all rusty and oily. I didn’t like it at all.
Suddenly, I was moving around the box. It felt like someone was carrying me. I was rolling all around the box like a ball going crazy.
Slowly someone grabbed me and pulled me out of the box and dumped me on the grass with all the other fireworks. They then connected me to all of the other fireworks. The man left me alone with all of the fireworks. I was scared. He said to a man ,
“I am going to get the matches” Quickly, the man rushed back with a lighter and a match. Would you like to be set off by a match?
Suddenly the man got closer and closer and closer. He set me off with a BANG!! I didn’t know what was going on, but down below I saw a lovely, white Tall Ship. The people were staring at me. The sea was a sapphire crystal shining below me. I could see massive houses, all different colours (pink, blue, orange, yellow…). There were hundreds of dogs and cats everywhere I looked. The sight before my eyes was amazing.
I got closer and closer to the ground. I ended up becoming dust. Lots of tiny grains of dust. Suddenly my life flashed before my eyes as I landed on the ground. I was not a firework anymore, just dust.
