Be Inspired. Digital iPad Art by John Dyer

You will have seen John Dyer’s official painting for the Falmouth – Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014 and hopefully that will have really inspired you to get arty and to get writing too. John Dyer has been working on lots of drawings and painting prior to producing his latest major painting and we thought you might like to see some of the work he has recently be doing on an iPad. We want to encourage you to paint and get messy, but some of you might want to use your tablets to make your piece of art and that’s ok.

You can view all of John Dyer’s digital Tall Ship art here.

How did the Digital Postcards Start?
John Dyer has created a series of Digital Postcards for the Falmouth – Royal Greenwich Tall Ships Regatta 2014. The postcards started as a series of live responses by the artist to sailing down the River Thames in London at Greenwich on a Tall Ship in August 2013 during the press launch for the project. The iPad allowed the artist to lay colour on colour and to create in a fluid way without the complexity of painting on a moving sailing boat. Journalists on the boat the happily signed the digital postcards to record the day and over 27000 people had viewed the series by the end of the two hour trip as the iPad could tweet the images out. Following the original series of postcards the artist has produced a number of additional ones celebrating specific events & tall ships signing up to the event.
