Tall ships honk honk
All the people talk talk
Lunch chomp chomp
Lovely fireworks in the sky bang bang
Ships flags flap flap
Horns honk honk
I saw the fireworks with my eye
People happy watching the display
Singing choirs entertain
‘The Sea Story’ by Leon, Age 8 Years
One day there was a person called Ross. He was going for his daily walk and he found a hurt rat. He took it home and took care of it. He named the rat Scally. Scally was very dirty so Ross cleaned Scally. When Scally got out she yawned so Ross made a bed for Scally. Then Ross thought that he was tired too.
In the morning when Ross and Scally woke they both yawned at the same time.
They both laughed, well Ross did but Scally squeaked (that meant she was laughing in rat). They both went for a walk down the street and when Ross looked behind him there were loads of rats! Ross did not know which one was Scally.
Ross was so sad that he started to cry. “WA! WA! WA! WA!” said Ross, then he remembered that Scally was the clean one. Soon he found her. Ross was so happy that he ran straight to a pet shop to buy a collar for Scally. He got her name engraved on it and gave it to her. Then Ross told Scally that it was the tall ships and Sally was so excited that she ran ahead and found somewhere to sit and Scally and Ross watched the tall ships.
‘Tall Ships’ by Jay, Age 8 Years
The sound of the most amazing fireworks
A giant crown of cheering people
Lovely smells of barbecues cooking
Like nothing you have ever smelt
Super cool sailors standing on sails
Happy people all around you
Impossible to count everyone
Praying it will never end
Sailing out of Falmouth.
Tilly is young and she is twenty-four. Tilly has a dog called Dave. They were in town. When then got there Dave the dog disappeared. Dave smelt a hot dog and he ran to find it on a tall ship. Tilly was worried because Dave was gone. She went around town hunting for him. She looked on the beaches. She looked in the hotels. She looked in the castle. She couldn’t find him. She looked everywhere. Then she played her music. Dave heard it and he came back. He barked and barked!

When I go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,
And all I ask is a tall ship and the starlight to steer her by,
And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,
And a grey mist on the sea’s face, and a grey dawn breaking,
As I sail along the glass like sea,
The reflection of the clouds is as still as can be,
As the sun breaks through the morning haze,
I grab my bong and start to blaze.
They stood side by side
On the edge of the basin
Dressed in their regal blue
The sky above as clear as day
The mighty ships have left now
No longer passing by.
Stopping now at another destination.
The birds in the skies; cranes their only friends
As new craft live in their basin
Their noble arms no longer needed
As the boats are too small now
For them to give aid
Power is flowing through to every tip of the boat,
Its streamlined shape swiftly surging through the waves.
Salt spray whips onto the cotton cloud sails that are ruffled by the wind singing secret songs.
A wonderful blazing blur of colours rise high above the tallest mast.
The flags flying high in their colourful magnificence of spots and stripes.
Stars explode into shimmering sparks that shower to the earth.
The tall ships have come!
The Tall Ships
The sea was gleaming at me,
As I swam past the reflections of fireworks,
Everyone was blissfully happy.
I found it peaceful swimming among the long lost boats.
The wonderful smell of fish and chips!
I saw a majestic boat towering above me.
I jumped as a bit of seaweed got caught up on my foot!
I saw the steps to get out; I lifted my feet up to get out.

The Tall Ships
Dashing along the clear water,
The white horses galloping,
Not parting from the boat for a split second.
Spraying silver waves splashing endlessly.
The distant horizon beckoning them forward,
The vibrant colours glowing brightly,
When will this magical and wonderful journey end?

My Tall Ship
The sea swirls beneath us,
Masts tower above.
On the quay people shout and cheer,
Willing for them to come closer,
Feeling everything but fear.
My friend, she stands beside me,
Clapping and cheering along.
The sailors above us,
Dance and sing their Jolly Sailor Song.
The flags and bunting sway
In the cold, fresh air
It blows my way,
Freeing my hair.
The night slowly arrives,
Bringing fireworks and bright flashes,
Everything is loud and noisy,
Flaring out like coloured sashes.
They stand there tall and proud,
As if nothing could stop them,
The sails blowing in the breeze,
Scaring away all my dreams.
The sea swirls beneath us,
Masts tower above.
On the quay people shout and cheer,
Willing for them to come closer,
Feeling everything but fear.
