A Firework’s Flight by Alex Graver, Age 10 Years

I was in a shed lonely as could be (the shed was gloomy and dark).Suddenly the door started shaking. BANG! The first fire work went up. He came in. He grabbed me; I was being swung down the path. Soon I was on a metal stand. I was full with excitement. He lay down some string.
Suddenly I heard a scratch. It was fire on the end of a stick. The string was on fire; fire was running down, it was terrifying! Fire struck, it took it’s time, a few minutes later. I was baking hot.
Soon I was whirling in the air. I reached a maximum of height, I looked over Falmouth. The sun sinking down like a submarine. I smelt the salt of fish and chips there was a million tall ships. Flags are waving goodbye. Why is my top on fire? Cats and Dogs jumping. BANG!, BANG!, BANG!,FIZZ!.
I slowly died into the salty air. Dust was all over the Tall ships. The sea was sparkling with delight … However I was delighted too!
Although I wouldn’t be doing it again. I saw beautiful fireworks above me if only I could do it again. The last words I would say before I fell to be part of the sea. Soon I reached the water. The boats were all different colours and shapes. Tall ships and a single lifeboat glided across the shinning sea. Other fireworks were getting ready to set off as another celebration for the Tall ships. I luckily landed on a Tall ships sail. A man walked out of a shop with a massive painting. It was of all the tall ships. It was painted by John Dyer
A gust of wind came and I fell off.

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Finley Holt, Age 10 Years

In the dark, cold, rusty, black box I feel as lonely as a leaf scattered in a dark spooky hole and I don’t know what is going on. Suddenly these old people take me out of the small, stinky, box. These huge giant hands squish me into the soft, muddy earth and suddenly I light up like I am the moon…

1 minute later I zoom like a cheetah.
BANG!
I BANG!
I bang through the sky like a shooting star fizzing and whizzing.

I can see I’m in Falmouth, its August and the tall ships are coming! People are climbing on the ships sails; the sea is crashing towards the small ships. I can taste the wet, soggy, slimy fish and delicious chips. I can hear seagulls squawking across the bright, beautiful, shiny fireworks.

I don’t want to die like a human because I can’t stand the thought of fading away.

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Holly Jarmain, Age 11Years

I woke; I’m in a dusty, cold and battered box. I saw another nervous firework next to me shuddering together to keep warm like a pack of puppies keeping warm from the cold. Anxiously I heard loud, booming footsteps echo through the box I was in. A man with rope opened the box lid quickly and grabbed forcefully the frightened fireworks and walked outside. He put us down on a stands and walked off limping. I heard annoying shouts of people as I saw they were behind a gate, the smell of fried food wrinkled up my nose as I looked at it with my jaw-open.

The gruff, mean looking man came out again but with matches that shone like diamonds plus dynamite that was ready to pounce on me any second now. The man shoved rope around me and I gulped as I saw the light, glowing, fierce spark of the match stick. “Would, I survive?” I said slowly in my head. I felt the match light on the rope fizzes as I shot up into the dull air like a raging rocket! I filled the air with happiness. My friends shot up and whizzed into the air like shooting stars. I saw the massive tall ships and small ships with bright flags waving about. There were sky-diving seagulls, dancing seals, beautiful stars and the colourful town below. Cornish sea pirates playing rhythmic music to a beat. The people clapping, screaming in joy.

Suddenly one of my friends began to fall out of the sky drifting into dust and disappeared. Then all of my friends began to scream and turn into dust as well, as I turned to dust, I smiled, I’ve had a happy life.

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Morgan Tiddy, Age 10 Years

I am a firework, laying in a dark box, alone and don’t know how long for, I can smell the owner smoking which smells like a burnt piece of toast. I have been in the box for a long hour alone and waiting, waiting to be a loud bang.
Finally the man (who is 51 years old) takes me out of the box and throws me onto the firework stand and connects me to dynamite and gets me ready for the big bang!
He sets the wire on fire and in seconds the bang will happen! I am so nervous I could wet myself. BANG!! Boom! Boom! Pow!
It was so scary, I was like an aeroplane … I can see lovely people of Falmouth watching me as I launch into the beautiful sky. I can see the giant tall ships running across the salty sea and I can smell the lovely fish and chip shop.
What have I done to deserve to die? Why can’t I stay as a beautiful firework in the sky.

‘Tall Ships and Sand Pits’ by James Manning, Age 12 Years

The light blurs out into the way of the tall ships.
The boys playing football and the girls building sand pits.
The seagulls screaming,
The crowd cheering.
Lifeboats launching,
The sun is scorching on this sunny day.
The flags are flying,
The waves go flying,
The fish are biting,
No children crying.

Where are the dogs? Where are the fireworks?
Where are all the rich people driving there mercs?
The beach is packed, the sand castles cracked on this freezing night.

One direction singing, crowds seem to be leaving.
One direction sacked,
oh look, crowds are back!

‘The Sea’ by Billy Daly, Age 11Years

The Sea
I am violent, a bloodhound targeting victim after victim.
I am vociferous, I flood towns, erode cliffs, beat mountains down to add to my collection.
I am vast, I am as large as life, and twice as powerful.
I am a lone wolf, howling to the shore, roaring at the towns.
I am the sea

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Amy Trethewey, Age 10 Years

In a dark, cold box, I was lying alone. I felt scared and lonely. I didn’t know what to do. The box was all rusty and oily. I didn’t like it at all.
Suddenly, I was moving around the box. It felt like someone was carrying me. I was rolling all around the box like a ball going crazy.
Slowly someone grabbed me and pulled me out of the box and dumped me on the grass with all the other fireworks. They then connected me to all of the other fireworks. The man left me alone with all of the fireworks. I was scared. He said to a man ,
“I am going to get the matches” Quickly, the man rushed back with a lighter and a match. Would you like to be set off by a match?
Suddenly the man got closer and closer and closer. He set me off with a BANG!! I didn’t know what was going on, but down below I saw a lovely, white Tall Ship. The people were staring at me. The sea was a sapphire crystal shining below me. I could see massive houses, all different colours (pink, blue, orange, yellow…). There were hundreds of dogs and cats everywhere I looked. The sight before my eyes was amazing.
I got closer and closer to the ground. I ended up becoming dust. Lots of tiny grains of dust. Suddenly my life flashed before my eyes as I landed on the ground. I was not a firework anymore, just dust.

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Oliver Kellow, Age 11Years

In a dark blue, tight box I lay until someone lifts me out and stands me up. I look up at the dark silent sky. Suddenly I am put on the top of the Falmouth clock. Without warning I am squeezed to the spire on the top of the clock and a few seconds later I am left alone…
I feel frosty as I look and listen to people and children gathering towards me. Children are laughing and waiting for the show to start. More and more and more people come towards me. After five minutes, I hear the sizzling of a fuse and I am lit…
“That’s odd, my base is rather warm. It feels good,” Then my base begins to get even hotter. I smell smoke and the black fuse gets charred and finally my fuse is roasting hot! I erupt into the dark blue sky. BOOOM!
“I’m FREE!!” Where am I going? The audience cheer and scream. As I look down, I see the Tall Ships and Small Ships and the calm blue sea. I can smell the smoke as other fireworks boom before my eyes. I see blue, orange, red and green sparks fly next to me. I can hear the children laughing and clapping. I can hear lapping waves and splashing water. I can hear beeping from mobile phones and loud chatter as kids discuss my colours as I wiggle down towards ground. Suddenly I spark in the sky and split into a million pieces.
My one last ball of ‘dust’ smashes against the ground….

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Jarvis Prowse, Age 9 Years

I’m stuck in a dark box alone, no one to talk to, just a cardboard wall. I looked out of a hole in the box, it was coming dark, people were standing in the town.

Suddenly I heard footsteps, someone was coming, I quickly laid down. Then someone picked me up, and put me in a comfy slot. There was a another person next to me, he attached a long piece of rope to me. I said “ What’s this?”. A sizzling noise, it flicked in my ear, then they set the rope on fire.

Then I flew up into the night blue sky . “I can see the whole place from up hear, people cheering, birds flying, then I saw the most special thing in the world , a sign saying “ John Dyer.” My creator.

After that I went into the sea and died, but I still have that picture in my mind and I had one more look. Now my heat was lost in time and space.

‘A Firework’s Flight’ by Maxwell Endean, Age 10 Years

For this afternoon I am stuck in a big, dark and gloomy box. I smell the disgusting fish guts outside of the box. Later on the van door opens and I get chucked inside with the other fireworks.
Then we take a journey to Falmouth and I say to the driver…
“Hey what are we doing in Falmouth?”
There was no response. About a minute after there was still no response the van door opened and they took me out of the box and wheeled me to the quay. Then they put me on a stand with about 100 more fireworks and they attached a piece of rope on fire.
“Woah what are you doing?” I said but it was too late…
Suddenly, as soon as I knew it I was running through the air like a cheetah. I could see the tall ships sails’ flapping in the wind from side to side. Then I saw a few seals swimming around in the crystal blue sea.
I came down as a dusty thing and could hardly see anything, then a few seconds later I was dead.
